In Memoriam: Gemps Benoit, Caretaking Staff

Gemps Benoit passed away at home on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the age of 62 years. 

Gemps was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he became a welder and proudly owned his own shop. He immigrated to Canada with his wife, Micheline, and lived in Montreal, Que., where they had six wonderful children. In 2006, he moved to Calgary, Alta. He had several successful careers, owning a cleaning business, working for the Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ, and was on his way to becoming a massage therapist. 

Gemps was a very outgoing, hardworking, loving, and caring man who was never afraid to speak his mind. He loved his family so deeply and dearly, always making sure they were good and taken care of. He was loud, and loved making people laugh with his jokes. He enjoyed keeping up with his many friends. Faith was highly important to Gemps, and he loved the word of God. He had a big heart and found joy in helping others. He liked to travel, explore new places, have adventures, and make great memories. 

Gemps will be dearly missed by his loving partner, Guadalope Sanchez de Leon; his father, Fenil Benoit, Gemps's children, Jennifer Benoit, Medgine Benoit, Sherldrick Benoit, Sherlden Benoit, Droudgie Benoit, and Gemps Henri Junior Benoit; grandchildren Mikaella, Jaylen, Myzel, Devine, and Joseus; siblings Methilde, Marie, Claude, Yves, Viviane, and Fifi. 

Gemps was predeceased by his wife, Micheline Valcourt.
