Nursing faculty member among first group of nurse educators to get Canadian credential for simulation in country

Associate professor Dr. Sandra Goldsworthy receives CASN Canadian Certified Simulation Nurse Educator credential (CCSNE)

Associate professor Dr. Sandra Goldsworthy PhD, RN, CNCC(C), CMSN(C), CCNSE, Associate Dean Teaching, Learning and Technology,  is one of the first of a group of eight nurse educators across Canada to receive the CASN Canadian Certified Simulation Nurse Educator credential (CCSNE). Together with colleagues from across the country, Goldsworthy was invited to participate in a national task force that developed the core competencies and the final certification exam for the CCSNE. In the new CCSNE online education program, participants can complete four modules and then be eligible to write the national exam to achieve the CCSNE designation.

“While I am honoured to have been awarded the certification, I am so glad that we now have a Canadian credential for simulation nurse educators in our country,” Goldsworthy says. “Those of us who specialize in nursing simulation have been working toward this for a long time.”

The Simulation Certification Program fosters excellence in nursing education in Canada through faculty development in simulation-based pedagogy, practices and technologies.
