Thousands of students get to know us and make new friends at Orientation events

Thousands of new students — 4,163, to be exact — started their UCalgary journey on Aug. 29, 2024 by taking part in the noisy, joy-filled new student pep rally.Â
Here are some highlights of the rally and other New Student Orientation Events Aug. 29-30:
- This is the first year Orientation T-shirts included an ii'taa'poh'to'p message, designed in collaboration with the Office of Indigenous Engagement.
- 2,115Ìýstudents participated in Speed Friend Making, setting an attendance record for the event.
- This year also marked the re-introduction of the consent play U Need FRIES With That: Sex, Consent, and Relationships on Campus.
- 328 student leaders provided leadership across two days of events, including 42Ìýs±ð²Ô¾±´Ç°ùÌýo°ù¾±±ð²Ô³Ù²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²ÔÌýleaders, 245 o°ù¾±±ð²Ô³Ù²¹³Ù¾±´Ç²ÔÌýleaders and 41 w±ð±ô³¦´Ç³¾±ðÌýambassadors.
