Every year, UCalgary graduate students from a wide breadth of disciplines master their communication skills by taking their 100 to 300 pages of complex research and making it accessible to a general audience in only three minutes in the .

This year, the competition has gone virtual and you’ll get to join in on the fun from the comfort of your own home. On July 24Ìýat 3 p.m. our finalists will battle it out for the coveted UCalgary title. The winner will represent UCalgary at the Western Three Minute Thesis Competition, with the top winners of the regional competition moving on to the Canadian National competition.

So far, four UCalgary 3MT winners have gone to the Canadian NationalsÌý—Ìý two of whom became national champions and one taking home the national People's Choice award. To date, the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà is one of the most accomplished universities in the history of Canada's 3MT competition.

Learn more about the amazing research being done on campus, support our graduate students and watch history in the making as we crown our very first UCalgary Virtual Three Minute Thesis winner. There will be added treats such as interviews with our finalists, appearances by President Ed McCauley and Provost Dru Marshall, plus behind-the-scenes footage of what it takes to be a UCalgary Three Minute Thesis competitor.
