UCalgary Law celebrates its community at annual Night of Appreciation
UCalgary Law celebrated its amazing community on November 6 at the annual Night of Appreciation. With a theme of Inspired. Community. Impact. the event recognized the outstanding contributions of our faculty and staff, our amazing students, and the generosity of our alumni, donors and friends.
A special guest appearance by country music star Paul Brandt capped off the evening, as he sang and spoke about , a movement to end human trafficking in Canada.
Professor Bryce Tingle was awarded the 2019 Howard Tidswell Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence, while Markham Silver received the 2019 W.K. Moore Award for outstanding contributions to the law school. We also congratulated former faculty members Alice Woolley and Michelle Christopher on their appointments to the bench in 2019, and said farewell to one of our founding faculty members, Al Lucas, on his retirement.
Al has made such an impact on hundreds of law students, and the Al Lucas Scholarship in Energy and Environmental Law has been established to support a student in the JD program whose focus of practice and study is energy and environmental law.
