OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
General Information and Policies
Outstanding Achievement Awards are available to students entering their first year of post-secondary studies, who will be admitted to the University on the basis of their high school grades. Students must be entering a Fall Session at the University of Calgary.
Please Note:
In order to be considered for Entrance Awards, students must also complete the on-line application for Entrance Awards; Deadline is March 1.
Students entering the Bachelor of Health Sciences program in the Faculty of Medicine, are eligible to apply for Outstanding Achievement Awards.
Students entering or continuing in the Bachelor of Education (Master of Teaching Program) are not eligible to apply for Outstanding Achievement Awards, however, they are eligible to apply for Competitive Undergraduate Awards; Deadline is August 1.
Upon completion of consecutive Fall and Winter Sessions at the Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ, students are eligible to apply for the Competitive Undergraduate Awards.
The following points should be considered when applying for Outstanding Achievement Awards:
• Complete only one current Outstanding Achievement Awards application form to be considered for all awards listed in this category.
• Students must normally have earned a minimum average of 88.0% throughout high school to apply for Outstanding Achievement Awards.
• Outstanding Achievement Awards application forms may be printed off the Student Awards and Financial Aid web site upon availability: www.ucalgary.ca/awards/
• Completed application forms for Outstanding Achievement Awards must be post-marked or received by the Student Awards and Financial Aid office on or before December 1 of the year prior to entering the University.
• Chancellor's Club Scholarships are renewable in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year; based on a minimum 3.00 grade point average on a normal full course load each year.
• Other Outstanding Achievement Award recipients are eligible to receive a commitment of $2,500 in annual award funds from the U of C for each of the remaining three years of the student's program. Continuing funding is based on a minimum 3.20 grade point average on four full-course equivalents over Fall and Winter Sessions; students must also submit an application for Competitive Undergraduate Awards.
• For admission purposes, students must arrange for an official complete high school transcript to be forwarded to the Admissions Office.
• Although students need not have applied for admission to the University prior to applying for these awards, they must have applied for admission in order to be offered awards within this category.
• Successful applicants will be notified by letter in late March.
• Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by letter in early April.
• Unless otherwise stated in the terms of reference, the recipients must be in actual full-time attendance at the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà before receiving the awards.
• In support of the Academic Plan, awards are distributed among the most deserving students and in keeping with the terms of reference for awards. No student may normally receive total award funds of more than the value equivalent to the average cost of attendance as calculated by the Student Awards and Financial Aid office, unless the value of the award is higher.
The University assumes liability for the payment of scholarships, bursaries, prizes and other awards only to the extent that gifts from donors, or returns from particular investments for these purposes will permit.
As this information is published a considerable time before the opening of the session, the University reserves the right to make whatever changes circumstances may require, including cancellation or addition of particular awards.
