Retirees Association Award for Indigenous Students

At the 2017 AGM, members of the U of C Emeritus Association decided to set up an award called the "Emeriti Association Award for Indigenous Students". With the Emeriti Association being renamed to the U of C Retirees Association at the 2022 AGM of the Emeriti Association, this award became theÌý Retirees Association Award for Indigenous Students. Donations to the award can be made through the button below, or by sending a cheque to:

The Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Brenda Strafford Centre on Aging is a dynamic hub, bringing together people from various fields and sectors to collaborate on innovative solutions for aging-related challenges. It leads and supports research and educational initiatives aimed at addressing health inequities, improving continuing care facilities, creating age-friendly environments, and influencing policies that benefit older adults. By facilitating transdisciplinary connections and encouraging new approaches, the Centre is committed to optimizing the health and well-being of older adults and shaping a brighter future for aging communities.

The Brenda Strafford Centre on Aging was established at the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà in 2011 through a generous gift from the Brenda Strafford Foundation. It is embedded within the O’Brien Institute for Public Health in the Cumming School of Medicine.

What is CURAC?

The College and University Retiree Associations of Canada /Associations de Retraités des Universités et Collèges du Canada (CURAC/ARUCC) is a not-for-profit federation of retiree organizations* involving over 15,000 retirees at colleges and universities across Canada.


This umbrella organization is also linked into its United States sister association: the Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE). to learn more about AROHE.

CURAC provides its members a number of benefits and learning opportunities such as:

Access to a range of insurance and travel plans

A network of active committees and policy papers

Links with a national and international associations

Annual national meeting for memebers to interact

CURAC's Objectives

  • Coordinate activities that promote communication among member retiree associations(RAs)
  • Share information and provide mutual assistance
  • Speak publicly on issues of concern to the over fifteen thousand individuals from college and university retirees across Canada.
  • Convey information to the general public, postsecondary institutions, community planners and policy advisors about the contributions that retired academic staff make, or could make, to both university engagement
