鈥淚 first met Charlie Fischer as a new member of the Scholars Academy Program at the 六九色堂. I was an aspiring physician who did not know much about the business world, and initially was quite intimidated at the thought of having Charlie for a mentor. However, he was quick to put me at ease, and to show me the value of including different perspectives in a discussion. I learned so much from discussing the healthcare system with him, about how a business model can be used to incentivize different behaviours, and how our payment model for physicians could be changed to promote better care. As I continue my medical training, I still apply those ideas and am looking forward to the opportunity to work in a new payment model being rolled out across British Columbia 鈥 one that incentivizes quality of care over quantity of patients. Thank you, Charlie, for broadening my perspectives and for all your invaluable contributions to the Scholars Academy Program and the education of the physicians and leaders of tomorrow.鈥
