Graduate College Scholar Expectations & Membership
Graduate College programming involves friendly get-togethers, scholarly pursuits and information sharing on topics from a wide variety of disciplines. We have speaker events, opportunities for community engagement, and networking with other scholars interested in learning, organizing and making a difference.
These kinds of events and programming require the time and talents of both students and staff. They also require an audience. We do not expect College members to attend or participate in everything, as we know you have demanding programs. We do, however, expect to see a reasonable level of engagement. This is broadly defined by the following:
- Uphold the values of the College and contribute to the goals and visions of the College to connect, enrich and energize the communities served.
- Review communications in a timely manner (email, Teams chat).
- Be an ambassador for the College across your networks, helping to promote relevant College events, initiatives and opportunities.
- Actively engage in discussions and vote on matters of importance for the Graduate College.
- Attend and participate in a variety of scholarly College events, including those focusing on different communities (City of Calgary, Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ, College scholars, transdisciplinary scholars).
- Organize, lead or otherwise support or contribute to at least one College event or initiative per year.
- Attend All-College-Member meetings (2 per term).
- Host a guest for at least one public-facing College event/initiative per term.
