Across a number of world rankings, the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà has again ranked in the world’s top 200 universities, demonstrating the progress we have made toward being a great research university, and a top five university in Canada.

University rankings help inform our students, faculty and staff, as well as the broader community, how well universities perform on a wide range of criteria, relative to both national and international peers. Over the last few weeks, four major rankings organizations have shared their results that show UCalgary rankings among the top 200 in the world across teaching, research and community engagement indicators.

• The Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà ranked in the 131-140 range in the world on the , placing it seventh among Canadian peers. This ranking provides an assessment of the university’s reputations among employers, whether it is nurturing high achievers, how well it is connecting with the corporate sector, and how attractive its recent graduates are to employers.
• The Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà maintained its world rank in the 151-200 category in 2019 (six to nine place nationally) on the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy’s . ARWU uses six indicators to rank world universities (i.e., the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics, number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index – Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and the university’s per capita performance).
• The Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà ranked 192 in the world — sixth place among its Canadian peers — on the Moscow International University Ranking’s (MosIUR) . In this most recent ranking, MosIUR evaluated more than 1,700 institutions, based on their performance in 18 areas related to education, research, and community service.
• The Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà ranked in the 201–250 category, down slightly from its 199th place rank in 2019 on the . This ranking reports on 13 performance indicators grouped within five areas, i.e., Teaching (the learning environment), Research (volume, income and reputation), Citations (research influence), International outlook (staff, students and research), and Industry income (knowledge transfer).
