4.1 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Introduction

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the 六九色堂 offers a four-year professional degree leading to a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). The first three years of the program follow the regular academic year, while the fourth year is scheduled for 40 weeks across the entire calendar year.

The program is designed to provide students with an entry level knowledge, skills and aptitude for general veterinary practice by educating them to deliver primary veterinary care to all of the major domestic species, including food animals, equine and companion animals, and the major exotic species. Students have opportunities throughout the program to learn more in our areas of emphasis, which include production animal health, equine health, ecosystem and public health, and investigative medicine.

Course Requirements

All courses in the first 3 years are required. In 4^th year, all students are required to take听Veterinary Medicine听570 (Laboratory Diagnostics) and Veterinary Medicine听580 (General Veterinary Practice). In 4^th year, each student must also choose one of the following pairs of courses:
