Admission

Students in satisfactory standing may select the Nanoscience Concentration or Minor after they have completed at least 3.5 FCE. Note: If applications exceed the capacity of the Minor or Concentration in Nanoscience, priority will be given to students in satisfactory standing in the BSc or BSc Honours in Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Botany, Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Ecology, Geology, Geophysics, Physics or Zoology. See also 3.2 Admission.

Any course used to satisfy Major or Honours field requirements may not be applied to the Nanoscience Concentration or Minor.

Courses Constituting the Field of Nanoscience

The field of Nanoscience is defined as:

Required Courses - Concentration

See also Section 3 (Faculty Regulations), Subsection 3.4B(Program Requirements - Major and Honours Programs) and Subsection 3.5B (Course Selection and Registration - Introductory Courses for Science Degree Programs).

1. 0.5 FCE – One of Mathematics 249 or 251 or 281 or Applied Mathematics 217

2. 0.5 FCE – One of Mathematics 253 or 283 or 211 or 213 or Applied Mathematics 219

3. 1.0 FCE – One of the following sets of courses:

4. 1.0 FCE – Nanoscience 301 and 401

5. 0.5 FCE – Additional Nanoscience courses

Note: Students may complete no more than 1.0 FCE additional courses labelled Nanoscience beyond those listed above.

Required Courses - Minor

Same as for the Concentration up to (4):

2.0 FCE – Nanoscience 301, 401 and 502

1.0 FCE – Additional Nanoscience courses

Note: Students may complete no more than 1.0 FCE additional courses labelled Nanoscience beyond those listed above.
