Understanding Contemporary East Asia
An introductory exploration of the cultures of China, Japan, and Korea that outlines their shared characteristics as well as highlighting their differences. Subjects covered include physical environment, history, philosophy, social and political order, economy, and arts. Course Hours:3 units; H(3-0) Antirequisite(s):Credit for East Asian Studies 201 and 317 will not be allowed.
Contemporary social, philosophical, economic, political and /or international issues within East Asia and methodologies for analysis of the basis for interactions among East Asian countries will be presented in-depth. Course Hours:3 units; H(3-0) Prerequisite(s):East Asian Studies 201 and one of Chinese 317 or Japanese 317. Antirequisite(s):Credit for East Asian Studies 531 and East Asia 500 will not be allowed.
