4.4.2 BA Honours Anthropology

A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS

Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.3.2 Honours Degrees.

B. MAJOR-FIELD WITH HONOURS REQUIREMENTS

Students must successfully complete a minimum of 57 to a maximum of 72 units in Courses Constituting the Field of Anthropology while fulfilling the following requirements:

  1. Core: 15 units Anthropology 201, 203, 411, 490; Archaeology 201.

  2. Ethnography: 6 units from African Studies 301; Anthropology 320, 321, 323, 329, 355, 421, 427; Archaeology 345, 399, 419, 439; Global Development Studies 403.

  3. Upper-Year Courses: 6 units from Anthropology 400, 410, 421*, 427*, 441, 449, 467, 479, 501, 523, 541.

    *Anthropology 421 and 427 may not be used to satisfy both requirement 2 and requirement 3.

  4. Anthropology Options: 27 units from Courses Constituting the Field of Anthropology.

  5. Capstone Honours Seminar: 3 units Anthropology 573.

C. DEGREE OPTIONS

The BA Honours in Social and Cultural Anthropology can be taken with Co-operative Education. See section 3.3.8 Co-operative Education Programs for information and requirements.
