Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Calendar 2022-2023 Admissions A.6 Required to Withdraw and Suspended Students A.6.1 Required to Withdraw Students
A.6.1 Required to Withdraw Students

Students who have been required to withdraw for academic reasons from any faculty at the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà or another post-secondary institution will not be permitted to participate in academic work at the University until at least twelve months have elapsed since the student was required to withdraw, with the exception of Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà students accepted into the Academic Turnaround Program (ATP). See section B.18 Academic Turn Around Program.

Students may apply for the next admission intake following the twelve month period. Admission consideration will be based on current admission requirements, including the competitive admission average, as outlined in A.5 Undergraduate Admission Requirements with the following exceptions:

  1. A student who was required to withdraw from the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà for academic reasons other than a low grade point average, may be eligible for admission to another faculty provided they maintained a 2.00 or higher grade point average since their last academic review and have not attended another post-secondary institution.
  2. A student who was required to obtain a grade point average (GPA) above 2.00 for continuation in a Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà program may be eligible for admission consideration to another faculty provided they maintained at least a 2.00 grade point average since their last academic review and have not attended another post-secondary institution.

In addition to meeting current admission requirements, students seeking admission after having been required to withdraw for academic reasons may be asked to submit a letter of explanation that outlines the reason for the RTW; outlines their academic plans; and explains why they are now likely to be successful. All students who do not meet current admission averages must provide a letter of explanation (see section A.9 Diverse Qualifications Admission Process). Admission will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Students who are granted admission after having been required to withdraw will be admitted on probation and may have course registration restrictions (e.g., limit on number of courses they can register in) or may be required to achieve a specific level of performance as determined by the faculty.

Students who have twice been required to withdraw from the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà or any other post-secondary institution will not normally be considered for admission at any time. Students may provide a letter of explanation (see section A.9 Diverse Qualifications Admission Process). Admission will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

A student expelled from a faculty at the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà or another post-secondary institution will not be considered for re-admission to the same faculty. Expelled students may be considered for admission to another faculty on a case-by-case basis.
