Graduate Studies Calendar 2019-2020 Welcome Message from the GSA President
Message from the GSA President

As the President of the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) and a member of the graduate student population, I am pleased to welcome you to the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà and to the Graduate Students’ Association. As you explore the university, you will see the GSA across campuses and discover various exciting ways to get involved in the university and the GSA. I would strongly recommend that you engage in the student community throughout your time on campus.

All graduate students at the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà play a significant role in the university’s goal to be recognized as one of Canada’s top five research universities under the Eyes High Strategy 2017-2022 and Academic and Research Plans. I cannot wait to see the strides we will make together towards academic and personal excellence this year.

The GSA works hard to provide you with academic, social and financial support, as described in the GSA section of this Calendar. The GSA is a central component of the university’s renewed mission and has started work on its own strategic plan for 2019-2022. We are committed to being a recognized leader in graduate student advocacy and service delivery to our members, stakeholders, and external organizations across Canada. We are also looking forward to strengthening the GSA’s provincial advocacy and increasing its federal advocacy. Our programs are built around this vision through a number of high-quality services and workshops, which include sustainability training, awards and grants, social events, mentorship and graduate assistantship opportunities. If you chose to participate in any of these excellent programs, please feel free to share your feedback and suggestions with us as we are always looking to grow our services.

As a fellow graduate student, I strongly encourage you to get involved with the university community. There are thousands of academic and non-academic volunteer and leadership opportunities to suit all interests. Also, remember to make use of our world-class Active Living facilities that make staying active effortless, regardless of challenging weather conditions or a busy schedule.

On behalf of the GSA Executive Board, the Graduate Representative Council and all the GSA staff, I welcome you to the Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ. We hope you have a wonderful and productive year.

Mohammad Mansouri

GSA President 2019-2020
