6-10 reps

  • Soft bend at knees and hips
  • Knees pushed out over pinky toe
  • Partner uses slight force to bump the athlete on the hip while they are in the air
    • Nudge from various directions (front, back, sides)
    • The amount of force applied by the partner should be enough to move the athlete slightly form their original take-off position 
    • Apply forces in equal and opposite directions
  • Absorb each landing from the ball of the foot to the heel
  • Arms will swing forward in coordination with each jump
  • Excessive force from partner bump that pushes the athlete too far off balance that they cannot recover, or that causes the athlete to be in an unsafe position
    • Cue "Slight taps"
    • Educate partner about the importance of safety of teammates
  • Knee collapsing inward
    • Cue "Drive knee out towards pinky toe"
    • Cue “Squeeze glutesâ€
  • Straight, locked knee
    • Cue “Soft knee bendâ€
    • Cue “Sit back slightlyâ€
  • Not fully absorbing landing back to heels
    • Cue “Land softly and quietlyâ€
  • Reinforces soft landing technique
  • Develops knee control
  • Prepares athlete for uncontrolled contact
