6-10 reps
- Soft bend at knees and hips
- Knees pushed out over pinky toe
- Partner uses slight force to bump the athlete on the hip while they are in the air
- Nudge from various directions (front, back, sides)
- The amount of force applied by the partner should be enough to move the athlete slightly form their original take-off positionÂ
- Apply forces in equal and opposite directions
- Absorb each landing from the ball of the foot to the heel
- Arms will swing forward in coordination with each jump
- Excessive force from partner bump that pushes the athlete too far off balance that they cannot recover, or that causes the athlete to be in an unsafe position
- Cue "Slight taps"
- Educate partner about the importance of safety of teammates
- Knee collapsing inward
- Cue "Drive knee out towards pinky toe"
- Cue “Squeeze glutesâ€
- Straight, locked knee
- Cue “Soft knee bendâ€
- Cue “Sit back slightlyâ€
- Not fully absorbing landing back to heels
- Cue “Land softly and quietlyâ€
- Reinforces soft landing technique
- Develops knee control
- Prepares athlete for uncontrolled contact
