- Knee stacked over ankle
- Rotate to the side of the front leg (helps reinforce good knee positioning)
- Both feet pointing forward
- Torso upright
- 90-degree angle at both front and back knee
- Keep the back knee raised slightly above the ice
- Knee collapsing inward
- Cue "Look down: Can you see the inside of your front skate (arch)?"
- Cue "Push knee out towards pinky toe"
- Cue "Rotate to the side of the front leg"
- Back foot twisting
- Cue "Point toes straight ahead", "Keep hips square"
- Rotating too quickly
- Cue "Rotate as you descend towards the ice"
