Today’s cleantech startups are finding novel solutions to address some of our world’s biggest challenges, including the energy consumption of buildings. is tackling energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings with its nano-thin film coatings, which can significantly lower cooling and heating needs and eliminate up to 40 per cent of energy usage. The team brings extensive expertise in solar energy and nanotechnology, coming from a mix of business, manufacturing, engineering and research science backgrounds.

Receiving investment from the UCeed Haskayne Student Fund, the company enjoyed the experience working with the student cohort. “It was like being a part of a living lab. We enjoyed taking part at that ground level, watching the students learn and do it at the same time,” says CEO Steve Ferrero.

UCeed investment will support the company as it moves out of the lab and towards commercialization. In March 2023, the startup closed a $4 million US series seed funding round, and an additional $5 million in funding from Sustainable Development Technology Canada.   

With this incredible progress, 3E Nano ambitiously works towards reducing greenhouse gases by one gigaton by 2050, helping to create a more sustainable and energy-efficient world.
