Cadence

Losing a loved one is an emotional and stressful experience. Adding to that are the many administrative details that need to be handled, which can burden grieving loved ones during their most difficult and vulnerable times. The team at knows this from personal experience and has created a solution through its digital executor assistant. The Cadence platform walks people through the many tasks after a person passes away, helping to relieve some of the confusion and stress.

With the support of certified executor advisors, the Cadence platform assists individuals, funeral homes and estate professionals in navigating the many details following a death. They provide support with insurance and pension claims, government benefits, and tax guidance; even with cancelling subscriptions and protecting against identify theft. By combining practical advice and solutions with compassionate support, they help people during one of their most difficult and overwhelming times.

The company came about after the founder, Rachel Drew, went through her own personal experience following the death of her mother. Seeing how complicated and fragmented the system was, she started studying law and threw herself into understanding the many legal, and financial aspects of estate settlement. Since starting the company in 2020, the Cadence team has since grown to 13 and recently graduated from the Creative Destruction Lab-Rockies program in 2022. The platform is now available throughout most of Canada and investment from UCeed will help them expand to the U.S. market.

The loss of a loved one is something that most people can relate to and Cadence is designed to take away some of the burden and stress that can come when settling an estate. “Our product is never going to take away grief," says Drew, "but if we can help make the process easier, that's really our end goal." With support from UCeed, Cadence is expanding its reach to help more people across more regions.
