CRCC Asia Internships
CRCC Asia is a leader in international internship programs. Originally focused on China-based internships, the company now works withÌýmore than a thousand companies across six countries and sends hundreds of interns abroad every year.Ìý
Over 90% of interns at CRCC get jobs in their field within three months of graduation, and about one-third of ChinaÌýinterns are offered a job in China following their internship.ÌýYou can also be placed in Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, India, or the UK, and gain experience working cross-culturally and adapting to work in new industries or environments. Please note this is a non-credited internship experience.ÌýStudents have occasionally been ableÌýto receive creditÌývia Independent Study courses,Ìýhowever this cannot be arranged until after you receive your internship placement,Ìýand cannot be guaranteed as a possibilityÌýfor all placements. CRCC also offers an "academic credit" pricing option, however this has not been approved for credit transfer by UCalgary.ÌýIn general, we recommend thatÌýstudents do not expect or rely on receiving credit.

Virtual Internships
CRCC's include:Ìý
- Guaranteed internship placement in your preferred or preferred host company locationÌýfor 1 - 4ÌýmonthsÌý(minimum 120 hours,Ìýin the form of a 20 or 30-hour work week)
- Personal support and advising from a dedicated internship coach
- Access to a Rosetta Stone online language learning program for 3 months
- Access to "CareerBridge", CRCC's global internship curriculum (10-12 hours)

In-person internships
You can choose a one, two or three month internship. Internships start once a month (please note some programs are only offered in summer) and available dates are listed by location:

You can also to view CRCC's master-list of internship start dates. The start date is when you are expected to arrive in your host city; CRCC will arrange airport pickup (between 8am-8pm local time) on your start date, and then typically your internship placement will begin on the following Monday.
*Students going to China or Japan for a 1 or 2 month internship can finish their stay with an optionalÌýÌýin Beijing, Shanghai, or Shenzhen (21 days)Ìýor Tokyo (10 days), starting the day after your placement ends. See Costs/Funding section for more info on grants.Ìý

Virtual internships
You can choose a one, two, three, or four month internship.
The total internship duration affects the internship hours as follows:Ìý
- 1 month = 30 hours/week
- 2 months = choice of 20 or 30 hours/week
- 3 months = choice of 10, 20, or 30 hours/week
- 4 months = 10 hours/week

Costs
Students pay a program fee directly to CRCC Asia.
For in-person internships: Each location has a different fee structure. Costs range fromÌý$1495 USDÌýtoÌý$7050 USDÌýfor 1-3 month placements. ThisÌýfee includesÌýtheÌýinternship placement, accommodation, insurance, visa, arrival orientation,Ìýbusiness networking, cultural events, professional development events, and 24/7 support. Additional language learning options and trips may also be available. There is also a cheaper "placement only" option, which is intended for very independent students who already have connections in their host city; it does not cover accommodations, visas, or any CRCC events.
For virtual internships: There is a flat rate of $1595 USD for all programs, regardless of location or length of internship. This fee includes the internship placement, a personal advisor &Ìýinternship coach, access to a 3-monthÌýRosetta Stone online language learning program, access to CRCC's global internship curriculum "CareerBridge", weekly organized meetings, bi-weekly business webinars, and an end-of-program report including a skill assessment.

- Students who participate on a virtual internship in 2020Ìýand later apply for an in-person CRCC internshipÌýwill receive a $500 USD discount on their in-person program
- If you are referred to CRCC by a friend, you will receive the "alumni rate" (10% off any program)

For the in-person internship, accommodation is arranged by CRCC AsiaÌýin serviced hotel apartments. It may be possible to arrange your own accommodation with some placements.Ìý
If doingÌýthe "placement only" internship option, you are required to arrange your own accommodation.
All applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree program, have completed a degree program, are in-between high school and university, or are on a gap year within a degree program.
Applicants should exhibit an interest in foreign travel/culture and be fluent in English, as all internship placements/supervisors will speak English. (If you speak a second language and would like to practice your language skills, CRCC Asia may be able to find you a company where this is possible.)

For in-person internships: Apply online through UCalgary Study Abroad's application system RAISA. Search for program name "CRCC Asia" and apply for the program corresponding to your preferred country. In the "Course List" section of your application, list the top 3 internship sectors/career fields you are interested in. Please also write which city you are seeking an internship in, if applicable (some countries have multiple cities available).Ìý
For virtual internships: Apply onlineÌýthrough UCalgary Study Abroad's application system RAISA. Search for program name "CRCC Asia Virtual Internship". In the "Course List" section of your application, indicate whether you are applying for a preferred or preferred country (note this is forÌýthe location of your host company, and you are not required or permitted to travel there during your virtual internship).Ìý
Note: You must apply through UCalgary Study Abroad's application system first,ÌýnotÌýa direct application through the CRCC Asia website. Being nominated for this program by UCalgary will also earn youÌýa discountÌýon your internship fees.Ìý
Do I have to speak another language?
No, CRCC Asia ensures that all host companies have an English-speaking supervisor who will act as your mentor and provide structure and support throughout your experience. Some colleagues will also be able to speak English in these regions.Ìý
For the programs in China, CRCC Asia provides weekly Mandarin lessons. This will give you a great opportunity to learn new language skills while in China and will help you get around the city and communicate with locals.ÌýIf you can already speak Chinese and would like to brush up on your skills, CRCC Asia can help you organize your own lessons.
For programs not in China, CRCC Asia can help arrange lessons with their vetted language providers.
Where will I be placed?
You will list your top three sectors Ìýand at your interview, CRCC will work with you to find a placement that suits you. 98% of interns are placed in their top sector. Companies are vetted by CRCC.

International travel presents challenges that may not be found when attending classes on campus. There may be a lack of resources, emergency services, hospitals, accessibility issues and/or demands on the physical and the mental self, all of which can challenge individuals when away from their usual support systems and structures.
