3D Sensing

The use of 3D sensors can provide estimates of the depth, providing more information in cases such as occlusion and tracking. Development of processing techniques with 3D-deep learning algorithm has benefits for surveillance applications as well as the field of robotics.

3D modeling of environment

Building accurate, 3D models of indoor/outdoor environments has many uses in robotics, navigation and augmented reality. Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) approaches are employed in autonomous robots. We are developing approaches for low-cost deployment in outdoor/indoor environments.

Human-robot interaction

Developing robotic systems that interact with users for applications such as reception robot (City of Calgary).
