Co-presented by the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion as part of their Courageous Conversation Speaker Series, novelist and professor Dr. Randy Boyagoda, PhD, the University of Toronto’s Advisor on Civil Discourse, will discuss the importance of civil discourse on campus as a way to overcome divides, conflicts, and extreme positions between members of the same academic community.

Join us for a dynamic and insightful Research Day hosted by the Mathison Centre and the Community Mental Health and Well-Being Strategy at the Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ. Join Olivia Vesovich for an online climate café while you enjoy your morning coffee. Olivia will share her journey with climate despair, and in becoming a climate activist. The Psychology of Care: Learning How to Lead in the Anthropocene

In this online talk, Dr. Renée Lertzman explores the psychology of existential threats and what is being asked of us as practitioners, educators and leaders. She will share highlights from her research and introduce tools she has developed to help organizations, leaders and teams accelerate action on climate and planetary systemic issues.

De-coding Sacred Texts

This event will follow the approach to interfaith dialogue. Each faith community represented will pick a short passage from their scripture surrounding the topic of ‘Spiritual Renewal’. Each passage is read out loud for the group. Then participants will get the chance to reflect on the passage, ask questions, bring up things that struck them, and discuss the passages as they are comfortable.

EmpowerU: Self-Defense for Everyone

EmpowerU: Self-Defense for Everyone is a research-based and trauma-informed empowerment self-defense program founded in 2014 by Rachel Piazza. This workshop goes beyond simply teaching participants how to fight off an attacker, also focusing on boundary setting and regaining control. Participants learn to build healthier relationships and navigate difficult interactions with more ease.Ìý

Join a facilitated binaural beats session followed by an experiential activity designed to reduce anxiety, improve focus, and promote deep relaxation. By combining soothing tones with guided meditation, participants can experience a great sense of calm and well-being.

Speed Friending Workshop and Social Courage Event

Wanting to meet people and make friends at university, but finding it difficult to take those first steps? You’re not alone! Many studentss report feelings of isolation and loneliness and, more importantly, report a strong desire to connect with their peers.
