Vice-Provost (Student Experience)
Verity Turpin, CPA
Verity Turpin is an innovative student services leader who has more than 20 years’ experience in the post-secondary sector. She was appointed Vice-Provost (Student Experience) on July 1, 2022. Prior to assuming her current role, Turpin held progressive roles at Dalhousie University. Her work within student services began in 1999 and included two years as the vice-provost, student affairs (acting) and four years as the assistant vice-provost, student affairs.
Turpin prioritizes collaboration to ensure students are offered a world-class experience. She emphasizes caring for all students, staff, and faculty who work and learn together in partnership to support the student experience. She also values transparency and curiosity when building support for existing and new initiatives.
Turpin’s recent accomplishments include serving as executive sponsor for the development of an equity admissions framework for Dalhousie. She also improved diversity on Dalhousie’s student affairs team by implementing recruitment and hiring changes. Additionally, Turpin initiated collaborative partnerships on Dalhousie’s campus to increase access to student engagement opportunities and services (including mental health support for students).Â
Turpin holds a Bachelor of Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University and a Master of Electronic Commerce from Dalhousie University. She has also earned her Chartered Professional Accountants designation (CPA, CMA). Â
