Recommendations
This listing provides recommended options for students wishing to create a program of courses that explores their particular areas of interest and supports their career goals. It is not expected that students will be able to include all of the suggestions in one area in their programs; neither is the list exhaustive nor exclusive. Many courses have prerequisites that are not listed.
Students wishing to emphasize evolutionary, behavioural and population ecology are advised to take Biology 401, Ecology 429and439one year and Ecology 417, 419and501 the next year. Those students wishing to emphasize community and ecosystems ecology are advised to take Biology 401, Ecology 417and419one year, and Ecology 429, 439and501 the next year.
Courses in MarineScience may be taken for credit during the summer and/or students may elect to spend the fall of either the third or fourth year attending the Bamfield Fall Program. Refer to the MarineScience course listings for details.

A grade point average of 3.30 is required for entry into the BSc Honours EcologyCo-operativeEducation program. In addition, students must complete the courses outlined for the second year of the Ecology program with the same minimum grade point average before commencing the first co-operative education placement (the summer following second year).
