4.49.1 BA in Music

A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS

Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation.

B. MAJOR-FIELD REQUIREMENTS

Students must successfully complete a minimum of 8.0 and a maximum of 10.0 full-course equivalents in the Field of Music while fulfilling the following requirements:

1.ÌýFoundation Courses: Music History and Literature 201, 203, 301 and 305, Music Theory and Composition 201, 203, and 1.0 full-course equivalent at the 300 level from Music Theory and Composition.

2.ÌýMusic Performance and Musicianship: 1.5 full-course equivalents from Music Theory and Composition 221, 321, and all courses labeled Music Performance.

3.ÌýCapstone Courses: Music History and Literature 551, and Music Theory and Composition 479 or 481.

4.ÌýAdditional 400 and 500-Level Courses: At least an additional 1.5 full-course equivalents from the Field of Music at the 400 or 500 level. These must include a minimum of 0.5 full courses in Music History and Literature and a minimum of 0.5 full courses in Music Theory and Composition.

Note:

Students with an interest in pursuing a Sonic Arts Concentration should select Music Theory and Composition 361 and 379 to meet the Foundation Course requirement of 1.0 full course equivalents at the 300 level from Music Theory and Composition.
