Students are allowed to request a leave of absence for a period of up to one year after successful completion of one term in the BEd program. Only one leave of absence will be granted for the duration of the BEd program. Students will be notified in writing if they are approved for a Leave of Absence.
Students who wish to take a leave of absence must make a formal request in writing to the Director of Student Experience. Students returning to the program after a leave of absence must notify the Werklund School of Education by March 1st if they are planning to return for the Fall Term and by October 1st if they are planning to return for the Winter Term. Students who do not return to the program after their leave of absence will be required to re-apply for admission. Due to the prescribed nature of the BEd programs, students returning from a year-long Leave of Absence must register no later than the next available term in which their required courses are offered.
