Requirements for admission to the Certificate include:
a) A four-year baccalaureate degree in Education or an equivalent degree from a recognized institution, with a grade point average of at least 3.00 or equivalent. See the Faculty of Graduate Studies’ International Admission Requirements webpage at for specific country requirements.
b) A letter from an evaluator at Alberta Education’s Teaching Excellence and Certification. For further information, go to .
c) For applicants required to present proficiency in English, a minimum TOEFL (Internet-based) score of 97, an IELTS (academic version) overall band score of 7.0 or a CAEL overall score of 70 (with no section less than 70). This requirement can also be met by completing the with a minimum grade of "A-" in each course.
The test must have been taken within the last two years. When requesting that official TOEFL test scores are forwarded to the Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ, please indicate institution code 0813.
d) One official transcript from all post-secondary institutions attended.
e) A written 300-word statement of intent that includes answers to the following questions:
- Please identify your reasons for applying to the Bridge to Teaching program.
- In what way is this program related to your desired career path or employment objectives?
f) Two references – References are submitted directly through the online application system.
g) A successful interview with the Academic Co-ordinator for Bridge to Teaching.
