Biography

鈥淭he more I know, the more I realize I know nothing.鈥 鈥 Socrates

My interest in the sciences and math in particular led me to undertaking a degree in computer science. I have found that this discipline teaches far more than just how to program, and through learning is fostering my problem solving and analyzation skills. Honing these abilities will support me as I look towards a future graduate degree.

I take pride in being able to give back to my community through my volunteering efforts as a leader of a troop with the Girl Guides of Canada for the past three years, and as a swim instructor and lifeguard with the City of Calgary. In the past I also volunteered with TELUS Spark Science Center for four years to encourage a love of science with young children. Promoting causes I am invested in through volunteering is important to me, and I plan to continue doing so throughout university.

In addition, I am a member of ASHA, the Arts and Science Honours Academy, which encourages interdisciplinary studies to bridge the gaps between different fields. As a computer science student intending on concentrating in visualization and analytics, the information taught in this program will support me in using my data analytics skills for research.

I plan to be an active member of the university population and intend to take on executive roles in clubs of interest. Entering university has given me many opportunities, and I am looking forward to all the good I can do while obtaining my degree.
