Freeha has always been interested in biology and fell in love with the complexity of the human body, particularly how the brain is the body’s control system. This led her to study neuroscience, and she hopes to pursue medical school to become a neurosurgeon.

Outside of coursework, she loves to read, play board games, and experience new things with friends and family.

Skye loves the study of language and communication and is interested in learning different perspectives, cultures and world views. Her ideal career involves creating positive change in the lives of others, because making the world a better place is important to her.

Outside of school, she likes reading, watching movies, spending time with her dog and participating in the campus community.

Following a personal chronic pain diagnosis and considering her love of hockey, Cassidy is pursuing an education in exercise and health physiology. She loves learning about the body and how it moves and hopes to one day work as an athletic therapist or own a clinic providing support to high-performance athletes.

School is important to her, however, in her spare time, she has coached girl’s hockey teams and volunteers.

Inspired to follow in his parents’ footsteps, Artemy is seeking a career in computer science and pursing a PhD to research machine learning and AI. He is involved in many programming clubs and volunteers for post-grad research projects.

In his spare time, he is a skilful pianist and adventurer, spending much of his time mountain biking and sailing with his parents.

Bachelor of Science (Engineering), Schulich School of Engineering

Marcus was first inspired by engineering at the age of six when he witnessed the launch of the space shuttle Endeavour. From there, he has continually been drawn to the field of engineering, is inspired by the significant impact it has on our lives and is pursuing an aerospace career.

Outside of school, he volunteers and participates in STEM competitions. He finds that these competitions give him a safe space to practice his engineering skills and meet other aspiring engineers.

Evelyn was looking for a degree that would apply to many industries and aspects of life, so she chose accounting. To her, it is less about the industry and more about the company she works for. She feels it is important to work with an ethical company that’s taking initiative in its own way to make a positive change in the world.

Outside of coursework, Evelyn enjoys playing volleyball and spending time in the mountains to recharge, whether it is hiking, skiing or swimming.

It is important to Asha to pursue a career that will guide and allow her to think critically about current events, different perspectives and stories. She wants to better understand the world and engage with different perspectives, political structures and public policy to better impact the lives of others.

She is passionate about social advocacy and civic engagement, so, in her spare time, she volunteers and participates in different clubs and communities. In addition, she loves reading historical fiction and baking.

Scott’s beliefs that your money should work for you, and that personal finance-management skills should be available and taught to everyone, drove him to pursue international business strategy. He is also pursuing a second bachelor’s in political science because he is interested in learning about the world and governing systems, with the hopes of one day consulting with companies on how they can grow successfully.

In his spare time, he loves to golf, ski and hike.

From her love of English, social studies and science classes, Salma realized that many of the diseases and scientific perspectives she was learning about also have social aspects. It was this intersection of the social and science worlds that drew her to study health and society. From this, she hopes to pursue a career as a medical doctor and advocate for historically marginalized populations in medicine.

Outside of school, she reads and collects books, writes in journals and listens to music.

Being a student can be a tough financial endeavour, but thanks to the support of this scholarship, I no longer must worry about financing my education.
