For the five-year concurrent program, the above course requirements will be built into the degree program to which the applicant is registered in the Faculty of Arts, Science or Kinesiology. Students select their courses in conjunction with an academic advisor.
Note: All students in the concurrent elementary route must take Science 331 to satisfy the requirement of the half-course equivalent in science. In addition, students will be required to complete Education 201 prior to entering the third year of the concurrent program (Semester 1 of the BEd).
All applicants in both the consecutive and concurrent routes are also required to select one of the specializations listed below:
Early Childhood Education
English as an Additional Language
English Language Arts
Fine Arts
French
Inclusive Education
Mathematics
Physical Education
Science
Social Studies
Spanish
Applicants do not require an academic degree in the chosen specialization, but relevant courses are strongly recommended. (A relevant degree is needed for Fine Arts, French, Physical Education, and Spanish).
For the French and Spanish specializations, applicants must be fully competent in oral and written French or Spanish and demonstrate their competency in an interview.
