Engineering Physics ENPH
Engineering Physics 301       Research and Design for Engineering Physics I
Introduction to engineering design and testing; project management; teamwork; scientific inquiry; research skills and methods; identifying market and societal needs; innovating scientific techniques to analyze problems, and developing relevant technologies; intellectual property and regulatory issues; ethics in research and design, including documentation and treatment of data. Case studies as necessary.

Engineering Physics 388       Fundamentals of Circuits and Systems I
Characterization of circuit devices and systems in the time-domain. Natural, step, and transient responses of RL, RC, and RLC circuits. Semiconductor theory and device modelling, including diodes and operational amplifiers. Continuous-time and discrete-time analysis of systems. Impulse response and convolution.

Physics 259 and Engineering 225; and Mathematics 375 or 376.

Engineering Physics 401       Research and Design for Engineering Physics II 
A team-based design and research project carried out under the supervision of one or more faculty members, with a focus on design. The project can include designing experimental apparatus, developing technical devices, performing laboratory measurements, simulating systems or developing software, and building theoretical and physical models. Students will be required to submit a written report and deliver an oral presentation.

Engineering Physics 301.

Engineering Physics 488       Fundamentals of Circuits and Systems II
Characterization of circuit devices and systems in the frequency-domain. Laplace transform methods for circuit analysis. Transfer functions and series and parallel resonance. Basic filter theory and Bode diagrams. Two-port circuits. Digital sampling theory and frequency-domain signal processing. Rectifier and clamping circuits, and introduction to transistors.

Engineering Physics 388.
Antirequisite(s):
Credit for Engineering Physics 488 and either of Electrical Engineering 327 or 343 will not be allowed.Ìý

Engineering Physics 491       Multiphysics Design of Electromechanical Systems
Modelling, analysis, and design of dynamic systems involving multiple physical processes, including structural, electrical, fluidic, thermal, and mixed systems; introduction to and utilization of numerical techniques for solution of boundary-value problems; introduction to feedback control of dynamic systems; performance analysis and design to meet specifications.

Physics Engineering 383 and 435, Physics 449, Electrical Engineering 475, and Engineering Physics 488.Ìý
