Biography
Beba Svigir is the CEO of the Canadian Immigrant Women's Association (CIWA). She has more than 35 years of experience working in both non-profit and business sectors in three different countries, focusing on settlement and integration for newcomers, education, curriculum development and international development. Beba has added many new programs and services to CIWA, expanding the agency and the level of expertise, innovation and skills necessary to support thousands of immigrant women and their children. She is passionate about gender equality and empowering immigrant women, evident in the work that CIWA does to advocate for the appreciation of skills immigrant families bring to Canada, and the overall benefit of immigration. Beba is a strong advocate for collaborative, community based approaches to service delivery for newcomers.
