About:
Making Changes helps prepare under or unemployed women for the workforce with pre-employment training and business clothing.
Services:
- Walk-In Closet:
- provides women knowledge and a selection of a work attire for the workplace
- education on appropriate attire for work and selecting new, gently used outfits (free of charge), can come back another time and choose additional clothing. A “first impressions” presentation will can also be given.
- referred by community serving agencies, pre-employment training programs or post-secondary institutions in Calgary
- participants must be experiencing financial barriers and in need of appropriate clothing for interviews, new jobs, their current workplace, school or volunteer work
- participants may self-refer if they meet the appropriate criteria
- Employment and Life Skills Program:
- assists immigrant women in establishing more meaningful lives in their new society
- provides information on returning to work, jobs, foreign qualifications, school, community agencies and services, develop a plan to reach goals and educate about the Canadian workplace.
- free of charge to all immigrant women who wish to plan and prepare for their future in Canada
- childcare provided (6 months – 6 years old)
- participants must commit to one day per week for seven weeks.
