Aurora Hall
LEED Silver
Green Building Highlights
This LEED Silver building is home to around 269 upper-year undergraduate students each year. Completed in 2015, Aurora Hall offers living space for students with quick access to the rest of campus via underground tunnel systems connected to the Dining Centre and the Residence Service Office.
Waste and Recycling
To encourage residents to participate in the university’s goal of being a zero-waste community, the building has been outfitted with garbage and recycling chutes. The convenience of the chutes and associated signage makes it easy for residents to form good habits around waste and recycling.
Building Shape
The unique triangular shape of Aurora Hall allows lovely views to the surrounding area, including a span of revegetated aspen trees, giving residents a way to connect to the site’s biodiversity. The added daylight into the suites is also known to improve resident health.
Water Efficiency
Aurora Hall is outfitted with water efficient plumbing. Sinks, showers and toilets within the building are low-flow fixtures which consume less water when they are operated. These result in more than a 40 per cent water use reduction compared to a conventional building.
