Fair Labor Affiliation
Since 2016, the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Bookstore has been a Fair Labour Affiliate, with over 80% of apparel meeting standards that ensure workers are safe and companies are held accountable for their operating procedures.
Green Cleaning
The Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà uses approximately 99% EcoLogo or Green Seal Certified cleaning products that are biodegradable, environmentally friendly and mostly scent-free, along with ergonomically designed tools to help staff reduce repetitive strain injuries.
Green Electronics
The Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ's electronic purchasing standards are guided by the Green Electronics Council's Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT). EPEAT is the leading global eco-label in the IT sector. All UCalgary IT products must be certified EPEAT Silver or higher.
Supply Chain Management
Supply Chain Management aligns closely with the university's institutional commitment to integrating sustainability into all aspects of campus operations. This includes integrating sustainability practices and principles into the purchasing processes for all applicable product and service categories. To become a UCalgary preferred supplier, the university's evaluation process favours suppliers who demonstrate their own commitment to sustainability and alignment with the university's institutional values.
