Wellness Workshops

Wellness workshops will be offered using a blend of virtual and in-person delivery. We will continue to follow all public health and University restrictions.Ìý

Learn skills to improve mood and emotional wellbeing, build healthy coping skills, and manage stress and anxiety with our variety of wellness workshops. If you would like to request a workshop or training for your student group, please contact Erin Gionet at erin.gionet1@ucalgary.ca.

This workshop will help you learn about the importance of self-care and explore your current coping mechanisms. You will complete a personalized wellness assessment and create an individual self-care plan.Ìý

This workshop seeks to strengthen the grief and loss supports that are available in the campus community, while also providing skill-building for students when working with individuals who are grieving and/or who have experienced loss.

Workshop focus:
Understand key concepts of grief and loss such as;

  • Build skills around emotional support and resource sharing
  • Unpack and understand the various processes of grieving

What to Expect:

During this workshop, there is no pressure for you to turn on your camera or microphones and you are welcome to keep them off if you prefer. Interaction in the workshop will happen through a few anonymous polls, and beyond that participants can choose if they would like to participate further through the chat or unmuting for questions and comments, however this is not required.

This workshop has a capacity of 60 participants and will be delivered via Zoom.

This workshop will help you develop a better understanding of your own anxiety, and learn strategies to both reduce the impact of stress over the long term and manage anxiety in the moment.ÌýÌý

Hey students - are you wanting to meet people and make friends at university, but are finding it difficult to take those first steps? You’re not alone! Despite the end of Covid quarantines and exclusively online learning, many students still report feelings of isolation and loneliness and, more importantly, report a strong desire to connect with their peers.

Workshop Focus:Ìý

In this hybrid workshop and social event, presented by a mental health counsellor, you'll:

  1. learn about how our own fears get in the way of meeting new people and how to overcome these fears with Social Courage, and;
  2. meet people who are likewise eager to meet people and make new friends through organized Speed Friending!

Curious? Come check it out! You'll learn some things and might even make some friends along the way - just in time to make plans for the summer.

What to Expect:

  • Learn about anxiety, fear, and social courage
  • Speed Friending (organized, 5-minute chats 1-on-1, repeated with lots of people)
  • A chance to make some new friends and social plans for the summer

This workshop has a capacity of 30 participants and is open to all UCalgary students.Ìý

Recovery College focuses on helping people recognize and develop their own resourcefulness and awareness in order to support themselves or their loved one’s recovery journey.

Everyone is welcome to attend these free courses and drop-in classes. No previous experience is required and with more than 30 courses to choose from, there is a course for everyone.
