Varsity Courts Decommissioning Information
Project Background
Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Properties Group (UCPG) was created by the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà to oversee the development of the lands adjacent to UCalgary campus, now known as University District (UD).
Their vision is "create a complete, vibrant and sustainable community that enhances the university experience while harmonizing with surrounding neighbourhoods."
The land where Varsity Courts (VC) is situated is held by the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Properties Group (UCPG) and will be developed as part of University District.
The decommission of VC will take place in three Phases and will include the decommissioning of twelve courts.
Phase I: Complete - included 1100 (half of this court), 1200 and 900 courts.
Phase II: Complete - included 600 (partial of this court), 1000 (partial of this court), remaining 900 and 1100 courts.
Phase III: Final phase, to begin July 31, 2026, to include all remaining courts (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 1000).
What does this mean?
Phase I decommissioning (June 1, 2022): COMPLETE
Phase II decommissioning (June 1, 2024): COMPLETE
Phase III decommissioning (July 31, 2026):
