Biography
Tanisha graduated from Renert School in Calgary, AB. While there, she won the Bev Dyan Memorial Cup and was selected to represent Alberta in all four public speaking categories at the Canada National Speaking Championship. She also became the chief editor of RRROCA, a neighborhood newsletter for approximately 19,000 readers. Additionally, she was given a letter of commendation from Alberta’s premier for her contribution to her community through public service and volunteering.
Tanisha was drawn to UCalgary because of its distinctions in research, academic ranking and high academic reputation. She was also interested in the Taylor Digital Library, being the most cutting-edge library in North America. After attending the open house, she couldn’t imagine how motivating it would be to learn in a technologically advanced environment, especially as a student interested in computer science and business. She also sees Calgary evolving into a technological powerhouse.
Tanisha is enrolled in a dual degree, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Commerce. She chose this because it allows her to pursue her interests in computer science, mathematics, and business all in one program leading to two degrees.
Tanisha wants to use her education to pursue something in the technological field and take advantage of Calgary’s growing influence on technological innovation.
For Tanisha, the award allows her to focus on her educational pursuits and has opened many doors for her. It has allowed her to meet many technology and business leaders and to learn from people she aspires to be.
Tanisha has developed an interest in problem-solving and is fascinated by solving complex problems until she finds an intuitive solution. She is excited to learn about the vast technological world.
