Registration Dates: This is the period where first-year students will have initial access to register for classes. Each student is assigned an enrolment start time that is specific to them and reflects the first date and time where they will be able to register in classes.

The First-YearÌýDegree GuideÌýoutlines your recommended course pattern and it's important that you follow this pattern. Many first-year courses are required for second-year courses (these courses are also known as pre-requisites). It’s essential that you plan ahead so you'll have the right pre-requisite for your second-year courses.

Based on the First-Year Degree Guide’s recommendations you should:
Make a list of your required courses, and also choose some option courses that you’d like to take. Options are courses that count towards your degree but aren't required by your chosen program. The Academic Requirements Tool can help you identify required courses
Select courses that interest you or that will supplement your program (your academic advisor can help you with this).
Some degree programs recommend you take specific options. These options are listed in your First-Year Degree Guide under "Courses Required in Your First Year." Options tend to fill up quickly, so have a few alternatives selected in case the course you want is full.
Some first-year courses will have high school pre-requisites. If you will be registering for courses that have pre-requisites, be sure you have or plan to have completed these high school pre-requisites by the end of June to ensure you remain eligible to take the course.
Many courses are reserved for students who've been admitted to either a specific degree program, or a particular major. Restrictions tell you who can register for the course, and when. For some courses, you may need to wait for a restriction to expire before you can register in a course. In Schedule Builder, you can view restrictions by looking at the course details on the "Results" panel. In Course Search you can view restrictions by looking for the Purple Star icon next to courses.

As a first-year student, you are only permitted to register in 200-level courses.
Build your schedule for both fall and winter terms at the same time. Don’t wait until the end of the fall term to register for winter term, as your first-choice classes may be full.
A multi-term course runs over both the fall and winter terms. You must register for the course in each term as well as pick the same class section. Multi-term courses are identified as "A" for fall and "B" for winter.
For example, to take Drama 200, register in DRAM 200A for the fall term and in DRAM 200B for the winter term. You must register for both A and B sections and complete both sections for a grade or credit.
Get help choosing your first-year classes and building your schedule. Our New Student Registration Assistance (NSRA) team is available from May 7 to August 30 to teach you the skills required to successfully register in classes at the Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ. Meet with the NSRA to:
