Finding Work
A study permit is issued to students by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It authorizes an individual to study at a designated learning institution in Canada for the duration of the program of study.
Campus jobs
On-campus work means any work done on any building on a UCalgary campus (including main campus, downtown campus, Spyhill campus, Foothills Medical Campus, McMahon Stadium and any vendor located on any of those campuses).
How to know if you can work in Canada
All international student work programs require you to be a full-time student with a valid study permit.
You may not be eligible to work in Canada if you aren’t enrolled full-time and/or you don’t have a valid study permit.
Working while studying
As an international student studying full-time with a valid study permit, there are a couple of work options that are available to you.
Social Insurance Number (SIN)
International students must have a Social Insurance Number (SIN) to receive employment income in Canada.
